The DCSM and the Poughkeepsie Public Library District have parterned to present this special Women’s History Month Program. Panelists will be basketball and tennis Coach Patsy Zerbe, slow-pitch softball team manager Sharon McSween, Marist woman’s basketball coach Erin Doughty, and Bettina Briccetti, founder of Wappingers Challenger League, a division of the Little League for disabled athletes. Moderated by journalist soccer player Abigail Gierke.

Following “Iceboating on the Hudson”, a presentation by Brian Reid at the Boardman Road Library, participants were invited to a reception at the Sports Museum. Visitors took a guided tour and viewed an early 20th century ice boat, enjoying light refreshments. This event was hosted in collaboration with the Poughkeepsie Public Library District to celebrate the 2023 Big Read, The Boys in the Boat.

The Sports Museum of Dutchess County and the Friends of Carnwath Farms co-hosted this year’s Fall Gathering. Local families enjoyed pumpkin painting, cider & donuts, guided nature walks, museum tours & more! The Sports Museum raffled off several prize baskets and invited attendees to tour the museum and the Ralph Holt Learning Center. Thank you to our sponsors Adam’s Fairacre Farms and Fishkill Farms.

The Sports Museum hosted a Museum Grill at the local “Carni-Fall” in Brexel-Schlathaus Park. Members, friends, and volunteers of the museum provided hamburgers, sausage n’ peppers, and cold drinks. Visitors enjoyed vendors, concerts, carnival rides, pumpkin painting, bonfires, and more.

The Sports Museum held its 2023 annual Family Fun Day on July 22nd at the Carnwath Farms Historic Site and Park. Events included crafts, local vendors, kids face painting, and free yoga in the park from Wappingers Falls local business Rooted Yoga. Families enjoyed hotdogs and hamburgers grilled by Hall of Fame inductee and Wappinger legend Roger Humeston, as well as food from the Empanada Mama food truck. JG Dance provided a perfomance in the afternoon. All day, visitors were invited on tours of the museum to see our new baseball exhibition and learn about our beloved Dutchess County athletes.

The grand opening of the Ralph Holt Learning Center was held on April 29th, 2023. The Center includes two research computers, an Oculus Rift, sports games, a smart TV, LEGO sets, and a sports book collection. Joseph Cavaccini, museum curator, gave the dedication, thanking Ralph Holt for his incredible legacy. Barbara Ponte, treasurer, had the honor of cutting the ribbon. Over 200 dignitaries and friends were in attendance. Afterwards, attendees enjoyed refreshments, tours of the museum, and of course the new learning center.
